Bring on the new year!

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

We have so many things that we're excited about for 2012!! However, first let me start by saying that we have been SO blessed this year!! Not only have we been introduced to new clients, but new friends as well. Each and everyone that we take pictures of becomes more than just clients, they become our friends and extended family! I cannot express what a joy it is to capture memories for others and especially to watch little ones grow and change! I want to send out a HUGE thank you to those of you that have trusted us to do your photography this year. You have helped us get back into the hang of it all and stood by us while we were still a little rusty! You've all been so understanding of Chris' random surgeries and we are so grateful to have all of you in our lives!

Now onto what's in store for the new year. I'm going to get the bad news over with first, isn't that how it should work. Bad news then all the good? Alright, here it goes, I'm doing this with a very heavy heart, but I know that it has to be done. Today I will be working on some price changes that will become effective on January 1st. We hate to have to raise our prices, but it's something that cannot be avoided. Now to try and explain why we are having to do this. First and foremost - photography is expensive! There's all the equipment that has to be bought for the studio (which we now have!!) and all the gadgets and accessories that are needed for our cameras. We're LLC'ed for insurance purposes - to protect not only us, but our clients - and we have to keep that up as well as licenses and taxes, not to mention the software that is needed for the editing process.

Just editing a single picture can sometimes take up to 15 minutes, depending on all that I'm doing with it. Now, if you do the math, a regular session worth of editing can take me 7 1/2 hours and that's without taking food breaks and doing house chores. Did I mention props? We have some, but we still have a long way to go!! Oh, and let's not forget marketing and paperwork, that's all the stuff I do in my spare time! Plus, we're constantly learning and trying to perfect our techniques. Now, aside from all of that there's also the traveling that we do. At least two weekends out of every month we go out of state to do pictures. We love it, but unfortunately gas gets pretty expensive!! I'm in no way complaining, I love doing it, I just want to make sure that all of you realize just how much goes into photography - it's so much more than just picking up a camera!!! Soooo, now you know why we are breaking down and raising our prices. We really hope that we don't lose anyone because of this. Please know that we are heartbroken that we have to do it.

Now onto the good news....

Specials will still be held almost every month. Some will be in the form of contests to win free sessions while some will be specific mini session specials. You will also still be able to get discounts by referring others to us.

We will begin offering a significant discount for repeat sessions throughout the year. We want you to come back to us! We also want to be able to give you a very special shoot that is catered to your needs!!!

Now for the best news of all - we are playing around with the idea of opening up full time in Douglas!!!

Alright, now if you've actually taken the time to read this, would you please give us some feedback? <3 Much love and God Bless!
